Imagine gliding through the air, the skyline of Atlantic City’s casinos forming a glittering backdrop for your journey. Safely inside, you relax on plush seating as you take in the incredible view. Inside, television screens preview the coming attractions—the shows, concerts, sporting events and promotions that are part of an “Always Turned On” Atlantic City.
Within minutes, you’re at your stop. There’s no parking hassle, no high price of gas, no impact to the environment. Best of all, another gondola car will be here in six minutes. And the sky’s the limit as to how this innovative system will benefit Atlantic City!

What
“Chariots of the Sky” is an environmentally sensitive (e.g. green) people-mover system similar in appearance to an enclosed luxury ski lift gondola.

  • Full automatic cable-propelled people mover system run by electricity
  • Requires no driver or attendant
  • Capable of moving 4,800 people per hour
  • Transports riders one mile every 5.5 minutes
  • Consists of more the 509 eight-passenger cars with a smooth and quiet ride
  • Constructed of long-lasting fiberglass and resin material
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Features surveillance system ( 360 solar cameras) with 147 poles for hanging street lights
  • Each casino could have access to 10 custom designed VIP cars where they can cater to high rollers
  • Cars can be themed to Atlantic City entertainers, icons or the casinos

Where
The “Chariots of the Sky” gondola will run in a continuous loop in two directions throughout Atlantic City. It will stop at every casino and key city attractions, including but not limited to:

  • From the Hilton to Revel to the Showboat along the length of the Boardwalk
  • Over the back bays to the Borgata, Harrah’s and Trump Marina
  • To The Walk, the Atlantic City Convention Center, train station and Bader Field

We wish to include connecting the Atlantic City airport to the “Chariots of the Sky” gondola system by installing a monorail train that takes you to the train track behind the airport (2 miles)

Chariots of the Sky Fact Sheet

Who
The company behind “Chariots of the Sky” is Doppelmayr CTEC, creators of the successful aerial trams in Portland, OR, and Roosevelt Island/Manhattan, NY. Doppelmayr is:

  • The lead producer of ropeway propelled people mover systems in the world
  • Maintaining offices in 30 countries
  • Active systems in 70 countries
  • A portfolio of 13,300 successful installations

Why
Atlantic City faces virtually unlimited growth in both casino and general tourist trade. However, issues from inadequate parking and cost of gas could curtail that potential. The “Chariots of the Sky” is an environmentally sensitive solution  that provides a host of benefits to the businesses, lawmakers and residents of Atlantic City.

  • No carbon dioxide, toxins or pollutants in the air
  • No noise
  • Cost of gas is not an issue
  • Eliminates the need to find parking during potentially crowded times/seasons
  • Eliminates traffic and congestion, especially during peak hours
  • Creates jobs for 300-350 employees
  • Reduces potential for crime
  • Can deliver guests safely to their rooms without the need for designated drivers and without fear of DWI offenses
  • Patrons enjoy a relaxed experience, which is proven to encourage a longer stay and a return visit
  • Cost of infrastructure is much less than replacing bridges and roadways over time
  • Provides a venue in which you can directly market other services to a captive audience

Based on similar systems, the “Chariots of the Sky” will save an incredible 930,000 gallons of gas annually, eliminates 20 million vehicle miles annually, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 10,000 tons!

When
Similar transportation systems have been put in place within a year. The anticipated timeframe for “Chariots of the Sky” is within a year of project approval and financing, pending city permits.
